Title: It's Not Cool Anymore(Radio)

*People Coughing, lighters flicking* “Do you hear that? That’s the sound of the past. Since the 1960’s, the amount of adults in the U.S. that actively smoke cigarettes has decreased by more than 25%, and more and more people are quitting every day. In this age where the dangers of smoking are known, it is possible for this generation to eradicate cigarette smoking completely. As the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the United States, there is one things true about cigarette smoking: It’s not cool anymore. For more information about how you can help end tobacco use, visit ASH.ORG or call 202 659 4310

Title: It's Not Cool Anymore(30SecVideoSpot)

See:

A group of 10 people, different genders, ethnicities, and ages, sitting next to each other. The group is separated by who smokes, and who doesn’t. A graphic appears on the screen: it says “1965” and 4 of the people sit on the right, 6 of the people sit on the left. Another graphic appears; “42. 4% of adults smoked.”

The scene speeds up, and when it slows back down, the graphic changes to “1985 - 30.1% percent of adults in the US. smoke” and one person moves from the right to the left as they throw away their cigarette

Again, scene speeds up and when it slows down, one more person moves over to the left side. The graphic changes to “2009 - 20.6% of adults in the United States Smoke”

Speeds up one more time, and when it slows down another person moves over. The graphics changes to “2020- projected to be 12% of americans smoke”

The group to the left stares the lone smoker as he takes the last drag of his cigarette. Screen fades to black, shows an ASH logo as long as contact information and link to the website.

Hear:

Hear The ambience of relatively calm outdoors, birds chirp. The sound of lighters flicker as the right group lights their cigarettes.

“In 1965, about 4 of every 10 adults in the United States smoked cigarettes. This means that 4 of every 10 adults in the US put themselves and those around them at risk of smoking related diseases

“In 1985 that number was more than 10% lower, as 3 of 10 adults in the U.S. smoked cigarettes.”

“In 2009, that percentage dropped to a little over 20%”

“There’s a reason this trend is here. It’s simple. It’s not cool anymore.”

Ambience continues
